Abstract
Card games were popular in the seventeenth century, especially the juego del hombre, played in several European countries but currently lost. Nonfictional and literary works witness the cultural explosion of those games. Specifically in Spanish Golden Age Theatre, the juego del hombre was used as main subject in dramas such as Baile del juego del hombre, written by Salazar y Torres. Likewise, the card game is frequently referred to in Calderonian comedias. The aim of this paper is to analyze the game’s particular function in Nadie fíe su secreto.
