Abstract

This paper aims to make a defense of Philology, understood as the activity that is dedicated to editing the text of literary works with the greatest possible perfection, and the study of its literal sense. To do so, this article includes some examples collected during fifty years of teaching and research activity, listing the errors stemming from lack of historical knowledge or neglect of the context in which a text was created.
