dc.description.abstract	Between 1798 and 1805 the Venetian territories passed under the control of the Habsburgs. In that period, numerous pleas from the the former Venetian subjects reached the ministries of Vienna. I have chosen from these the plea by Francesco de Beaciano, which presents itself as an interesting individual and family autobiografy, a meeting point for different layers of centuries-old memories, testified through family documentation, but also manipulated and invented.

abstract

Between 1798 and 1805 the Venetian territories passed under the control of the Habsburgs. In that period, numerous pleas from the the former Venetian subjects reached the ministries of Vienna. I have chosen from these the plea by Francesco de Beaciano, which presents itself as an interesting individual and family autobiografy, a meeting point for different layers of centuries-old memories, testified through family documentation, but also manipulated and invented.
