Mitopoemas yãnomam: transiti e traduzioni di una cosmologia
Abstract
The book Mitopoemas yãnomam, published in 1978, constitutes a project to record Yanomami cosmology. From encounters between indigenous and non-indigenous people, several drawing workshops were held, and subsequently, some narratives related to the drawn images were recorded. These narratives were initially translated into Portuguese and then also into Italian and English. The book reveals various types of displacement that mobilize the relationships between the artistic languages discussed, as well as a movement of textual migration: the transposition of orality into writing and the translation of the Yanomami language into other languages.
