Abstract
The great paradox of Western capitalist modernity is that it has relegated the condition of women to a state of ‘foreignness’ from itself. Languages are maternal, but geopolitical territory is defined by the concept of homeland. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the condition of otherness in Patrícia Galvão’s work within modern Brazilian literature; to this end, I will use the reading of a poem whose authorship has been established through one of her pseudonyms, Solange Sohl. It is the poem “Natureza morta”, published in the Literary Supplement of the Diário de São Paulo (1948).
