Linguistic-Communicative Strategies in the CEFR Companion Volume and Italian L2 Proficiency
A Correlational Analysis with Adolescents
Abstract
The present study intends to investigate the use of linguistic-communicative strategies specified in the CEFR Companion Volume among 132 immigrant adolescent learners of Italian as a second language (L2) in upper and lower secondary schools. The research question addressed is whether elementary language proficiency (LP) in Italian L2 and the use of language learning strategies (LLSs) correlate. The results prove a moderate positive correlation between LLS use and learners’ LP. Findings will inform best practices for teaching Italian L2 in educational contexts to ensure better understanding and communication skills for immigrant learners.
