El emigrante italiano en Argentina

De objeto literario a sujeto narrativo contemporáneo

Abstract

The topic of the present study is that of an excursus across migratory literature. It highlights the shift which occurred in approaching the vision of Italian emigrants, who have for a long time been considered as literary objects, but have recently become subjects of narratives of strong social impact. In order to achieve such result an encounter between social and political categories was needed, stemming from endless thematic coordinates − memory, poverty, exclusion, marginality. The new formal proposals, moreover, allowed deeper acknowledgement of individual crises as well as others concerning entire specific communities. Related to this is also an acquired consciousness of the dilemmas concerning globalized societies, as based on multiple identity.
