Chapter | Las recreaciones teatrales en el examen de la recepción del Quijote
Abstract
Theatrical recreations of Don Quixote provide valuable information about the reception of Cervantes’s novel and the changes in its interpretation. These recreations also help us to perceive Cervantes’s artistic originality. This article examines some milestones by authors such as Shakespeare and Fielding within the wide range of theatrical recreations of Don Quixote in Spain and England in the seventeenth and eighteenth century. These will be regarded as testimonies that shed light on the interpretative changes experienced by Don Quixote in that period, the most transcendental in its trajectory.
