Las voces del otro
Una aproximación a la poesía de mujeres mayas contemporáneas
abstract
Different studies have shown that, from the decade of the 1990s, the Amerindian voices of Abya Yala (America) experienced a strong explosion, development and diffusion not known before. This paper proposes to analyse a case of this literary-cultural phenomenon, the poetic writing of three Mayan women poets: Maya Cu (Guatemala, 1968, Maya Q’eq’chi), author of La rueda (2002) or Recorrido (2005); Rosa Chávez Juárez (Guatemala, 1980, maya kiché-kaqchikel), Casa solitaria (2005), El corazón de la piedra (2010); and Briceida Cuevas Cob (Campeche, Mexico, 1969, Mayan Yucatecan), El quejido del perro (1995), Como el sol (1998), Del dobladillo de mi ropa (anthology 2008). The study will try to highlight their specific ways of seeing and unveiling the world and putting it into words.
