abstract

The novella X.1 of the Decameron inspired several adaptations in the Golden Age, even though the dialogue with Boccaccio is not always direct. The Spanish writers often rely on different literary sources that may intertwine and overlap. In analyzing their works, we can feel the influence of an anecdote of Carion’s Chronicon, translated by Támara. Furthermore, from a thematic point of view, we can classify them into two main categories: one focuses on humoristic elements and the other on the topic of fortune.
