dc.description.abstract	Los Armengoles (performed in 1641) is a two-part play written by Cristóbal de Morales concerning the life of a Catalan martyr, St. Pedro Armengol, who lived in the 13th and 14th centuries. This work is based on El bandolero, a short novel by Tirso de Molina and published in his miscellaneous book entitled Deleitar aprovechando (1635). Both works share some characters and some important plot elements proving that Morales must have read Tirsoʼs novel. However, Los Armengoles is not a mere copy of El bandolero, because his author rewrote the plot and transformed the novel into a play. On the other hand, Moralesʼ work inspired another playwright at the end of the 17th century: José de Arroyo, who wrote a new version of St. Pedro Armengolʼs life, El honor en el suplicio, where some details which only appear in Moralesʼ play can be found. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to analyze the similarities and differences between the works and going through the the literary sources of the plays.
