Le théâtre documentaire et la langue au Canada francophone
Abstract
Documentary theatre has been gaining popularity among Francophone artists in Canada over the past decade. This article examines the creative process and reception of two documentary theatre productions created in Ottawa and Moncton in 2023 and 2025 to demonstrate that this form revives an artistic engagement with language that previous generations had set aside in favor of themes considered more universal. Drawing on both private and public documents, these artists from official-language minority communities highlight the precarity of the broader public initiative of official bilingualism in Canada.
