Abstract
Even if Jacopo Bellini may not quite be compared to his son-in-law Andrea Mantegna for his reputation as a ‘lover of antiquities’, his drawing book, now kept at the Louvre, contains two famous sheets of Roman inscriptions, which deserve special attention. This essay assesses the reliability of Bellini’s drawings in order to understand how much and what kind of information he can give us about some inscriptions, which are currently for the greater part lost.
