Grammatiche greche a stampa da Venezia alla Grecia: XVII-XVIII secolo

Abstract

Venetian printing, which played a pivotal role in the rediscovery of Greek in Western Europe during the Renaissance, contributed also to the cultural revival of modern Greece. During the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, Greek schools gradually developed, and the necessary books were published in Venice. This paper briefly outlines this phenomenon. The first printed Greek grammars by Byzantine humanists (late fifteenth to early sixteenth century) were reprinted in Venice for use by Greeks from the late seventeenth century onward. Additionally, during the 18th century new grammars were published, aiming to renew the tradition and more effectively promote Greek paideia.
