Capitolo | Non-Eratosthenic Astral Myths in the Catasterisms
Abstract
Two astral myths are studied in order to show that a catasterismic tradition ran parallel to the Eratosthenic one in Antiquity. Eratosthenes absorbed these interpretations into his mythographical handbook by cancelling those elements that contained a religious or a philosophical significance.
