Abstract

Tomás González (Villa Clara, 1938-Havana, 2008) was a creator in the broadest sense of the term. He was a playwright, director, acting teacher, poet, storyteller, scriptwriter, film director, composer, painter, essayist, and singer. Additionally, he was a Yoruba religious saint. In this work, he delves into some of his stage creations, in which he implements the interpretive system he developed and taught to many performers. As his talented student, Vivian Acosta, mentioned, this system showed them “a new, fascinating, and difficult path: the world of the unknown, control and management of energies, the oracular body, and trance”. His transcendent performances are evident in the dance show Danza Oráculo (1991) and the monologue Cuando Teodoro se muera (1992).
