Abstract

This essay explores the influence of documentary narrative in Mexican literary production, focusing on the representation of the internal refugee and the proposal of horizontal hospitality as a solution to the problem. The two literary texts analyzed are Mudas las garzas (2007), by Selfa A. Chew, which focuses on the deportation and extortion suffered by Nikkei people in Ciudad Juárez and border areas during World War II, and Jamás, nadie by Beatriz Rivas, which recreates the plight of Chinese internal refugees in Mexico.
