Abstract
Dystopian fiction, by projecting alternative futures, serves as a mirror reflecting the worst possible outcomes of contemporary issues and reveals a society’s political anxieties from a specific historical period. This chapter explores what has been excluded from that range in a selection of dystopian and post-apocalyptic science fiction written in Galician between the onset of the financial crisis in 2008 and 2022: the absence of visions of an independent Galicia. The author concludes that this omission results from both a lack of political imagination and the effects of normalization processes.
