Abstract
This essay aims to investigate the intricate interplay between visual arts and theatrical events by conducting an in-depth analysis of how their convergence can create impactful imagery; it will deal with 14-18 NOW, a cultural programme that took place around the United Kingdom to commemorate the centenary of the First World War. Within this context, the author will particularly focus on artist Jeremy Deller’s performative and participatory project entitled We’re Here Because We’re Here. This case of study is significant as it represents a ‘performative apparatus’ that opens to some interdisciplinary artistic practices at the turn of the 21st century.
