L’insolito secchio di Oderzo

Abstract
This paper deals with the situla-shaped vase found inside a well in the Roman necropolis of Oderzo in via Spiné. The vase has three particularities: 1) it is covered externally by a substantial layer of black material; 2) it was made using a very high number of scrap sheets; 3) among them, one is figurative. Regarding the vase, it is assumed that it was used as a cooking vase during parties or ceremonies (cf. parentalia) held in the burial ground. Regarding the lamina, also probably an unfinished piece, it seems to portray three human figures belonging to the ex-voto tradition of the Venetic sanctuaries of the late Iron Age and the early Imperial Age, which are here briefly reconsidered.
