Two volumes. Vol. 1: translation; vol. 2: commentary. The translation is based on the text established by Poppo 1843-1851.

The translation was republished in 1883 with a new preface by Peabody – see Peabody 1883, was revised in 1900 by Abbott and Forbes – see Abbott-Forbes 1900 –, reprinted in 1960 with new introductory essays by Hanson Baldwin and Moses Hadas – see Baldwin-Hadas 1960 –, in 1942, with additional notes and a new introdution by Francis Godolphin: see Godolphin 1942, and in 1963, with an abridged version from Brunt – Brunt 1963. In 1919 Gilbert Murray extracted and republished a selection of speeches from Jowett's translation: see Murray 1919.
