Hanson W. Baldwin (1903-1991), military historian and journalist, best known for his long tenure at The New York Times, where he served as military editor from 1937 to 1968. A graduate of the United States Naval Academy (Class of 1924), Baldwin became one of the most influential American defense correspondents of the 20th century. He reported from major theaters during World War II and covered military affairs throughout the Cold War. Baldwin authored several books on military strategy, history, and national security. In 1943, he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Correspondence for his reporting on the Second World War.

Moses Hadas (1900-1966), classical scholar and translator. Hadas received his Ph.D. from Columbia University, where he later became a Professor of Greek and Latin. In addition to his work on classical literature, he was actively engaged in Jewish and Hebrew literature, and earned a rabbinical degree from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. A polyglot, Hadas made use of various media beyond print, including radio and television, to make classical and humanistic studies accessible to a broader audience. His works include translations of Plato, Euripides, Cicero, and Tacitus. DBCS
