Abstract
The Latin redaction of Marco Polo’s Devisement dou monde called Z contains a big number of textual additions that are lacking in most of the tradition of Polo’s book. According to Benedetto, Z would be the Latin translation of the original Franco-Italian draft, which had to be richer than the one contained in the Parisian MS F. The examination of the indirect tradition of Z and of some philologically relevant textual loci has instead shown how this Latin version constitutes a second redaction of Marco Polo’s text, prepared in Venice, probably in a Dominican environment, on the basis of notes and perhaps oral memoirs of the traveller.
