Abstract

This paper focuses on the rendering of Marco Polo’s lexicon in the Latin versions Z, L, and P. Starting from the peculiar features of each version, the article aims to investigate the rendering of foreign terms, particularly exoticisms and xenisms, with the possible accompaniment of glosses, and paraphrases. An attempt will be made to measure the presence of any correlations between the lexical solutions of the three Latin redactions, and the source’s ‘encyclopaedia’.
