Abstract

This paper presents the main results of the University of Trento Research Unit within the PRIN Food and S.T.O.N.E.S. (2021-24) project. The study reconstructs the historical and social context of the western Adriatic and North-Eastern Italy between the seventh and eighth centuries. Through bibliographic mapping and archaeometric analyses (XRF, SEM, EDXS), the research identifies trade routes, production centers, and exchange networks, clarifying regional dynamics after the fall of the Lombard Kingdom.
