Abstract

This article discusses some of the problems that characterize the study of ancient glassware. It considers the reliability of analyses and selected samples, as well as the reliability of dating. A second problem is the fragmentary nature of the finds and, therefore, the use of typologies that are sometimes inadequate or could be improved. Finally, it discusses the reconstruction of territorial areas and trade patterns, with some suggestions for future approaches.
