Abstract
The bassanese franciscan friar Giovanni Scottoni (1737ca-post 1785), a man with a very restless personality, persecuted by his order, an expert agronomist, author of pamphlets and contributor of the “Giornale d’Italia”, cooperated for a long time with Count Vinciguerra VII of Collalto (1727- 1819), abbot of the abbey of Sant’Eustacchio in Nervesa, in the introduction of new cultivation and breeding techniques in the fiefdoms of Collalto and San Salvatore, making profound changes to the entire cycle of work in the countryside. This collaboration contributed to the general recovery which from the mid-eighteenth century progressively affected the entire Venetian countryside.
