Abstract
In presenting the concert Due omaggi, dedicated to the music of Takemitsu and Hosokawa, but also to the influences and suggestions of Japanese aesthetics on the Western world, the author briefly illustrates the dialogue between European and Japanese music that runs through the entire modern era, from fin de siècle Japaneseism to the most recent neo-avant-garde aesthetics. The history of this long and rich relationship, made up of exchanges, loans, contaminations, mirrorings and mutual identifications, is, in fact, a necessary premise for understanding a large number of elements, choices and aspects that characterise contemporary music on both sides. In the light, then, of this profound liaison, the individual pieces that make up the varied programme are framed and described.
