Chapter | L’Orestea nel nuovo millennio: il re-enactment di Milo Rau
Abstract
This paper deals first with 20th century prominent performances and rewritings of Aeschylus’ Oresteia, focusing especially on their clear political potential: it analyses then Milo Rau’s poetics, which brilliantly combines empathy and estrangement; and finally offers a close reading of Rau’s Orestes in Mosul, which highlights the contamination between myth and reality, video and acting, classical text and political re-enactment.
