abstract

This paper focuses on the points of Dante Alighieri’s works where Venice is evoked, or where Dante uses terms of Venetian origin or pertinence. A short inventory of these occurrences is provided, and the most interesting words (they are in particular nautical terms like ‘arsenal’, ‘artemon’, ‘burchio’, ‘impegolar’, ‘palmizar’, ‘pegola scaula’, ‘terzariol’) are presented through their respective articles written in the frame of the lexicographical project VEV – Vocabolario storico-etimologico del veneziano.
