Cómo traducir ‘Doña Remilgos’ sin escatimar en matices o las traducciones al francés y al italiano del monólogo De algún tiempo a esta parte de Max Aub
Abstract
De algún tiempo a esta parte is a dramatic monologue written by Max Aub in Paris in 1939, set in Vienna after the 1938 Anschluss. This article analyses four translations and adaptations of the play into French and Italian – published and unpublished, literary and performative – focusing on how lexical and dramaturgical choices respond to different translational purposes. Special attention is paid to the rendering of culturally marked expressions such as ‘Doña Remilgos’, whose translations reveal the tension between semantic precision, idiomatic adequacy and theatrical effectiveness in contemporary translations of Aub’s monologue.
