Patrizi e cittadini nelle Lettere di Andrea Calmo
Dinamiche della società veneziana
Abstract
The paper analyses the composition of mid-sixteenth century Venetian society from the observation of the third book of Lettere by Andrea Calmo (Venice, 1552). The tripartite organisation of the work on the basis of the class affiliation of the addressees is compared with the information reported in some reference texts, that reflect on the social mechanisms regulating membership of the patriziato, cittadinanza originaria and cittadinanza per privilegio.
