Abstract
Following the current trend of describing phraseological varieties of pluricentric languages, we offer a brief overview of Canarian phraseology. Aware of the challenges involved in reflecting something so varied in space and variable in time, we have tried to collect the most typical and, at the same time, the most general phraseology of Canary Islands, without neglecting particularities or modern phraseological studies. Thus, we begin by presenting some general characteristics of the Canarian phraseology to move immediately to the classification of their units, consigning their form (in alphabetical order within each category) and concisely providing their most common sense. Finally, based on phraseological criteria about their conditions of use, we show some semantic and pragmatic properties through literary examples.
