Abstract

This article provides a context for the heart-shaped world map of Cagi Acmet (1559-60). We present here some Armenian and Venetian sources from the 14th to the 16th century, which seem to give substance to the text that accompanies the paper: the voices of travellers, men of arms, diplomats and merchants, who inform Venice about Persia, the Great Turkey, the Ottoman Empire, the Sarmatia and the Catay.
