Abstract
Azerbaijani and Kalmyk are two of the many languages that share a significant layer of Russian imported lexicon. They are similar in typology and recent historical development, but they currently dwell in opposite sociolinguistic conditions. This study aims at analysing the impact of the modern linguistic policies in Kalmykia and Azerbaijan on the russianisms used in these languages nowadays. Through the creation of thirteen semantic tables, the Author has compared the quantity of russianisms in modern Kalmyk and Azerbaijani languages, their distribution in the semantic fields, and their degree of morphological and phonological adaptation to the receiving language.
