Abstract
This essay deals with some interlaced topics: the concept of avant-garde within Ca’ Pesaro’s group before and after WW1; the position of Gino Severini’s criticism around 1920, and the question of rappel à l’ordre in postwar French culture; the consequences of the change in the status of the avant-garde, in Italy, and the debate around Christian Art.
