Chapter | Grilli y el abrazo crítico a los clásicos: de Tirant al Quijote
Abstract
Among the critical work of Giuseppe Grilli stands his approach to two Spanish and universal classics – Tirant lo Blanc and Don Quixote – in his numerous books, articles and papers. The aim of this article is to analyse some of the most original aspects of his critical vision. Grilli articulates his analysis around four axes: the relation between history and fiction, the problem of gender (rewriting and parody), the relationship between theatre and comedy in the novel, and, finally, the reflection of everyday life in both texts (from gastronomy to eroticism). These lines of research have built up over the years a coherent, sensible and didactic discourse around these fictions, which stands as a model for comparative literary studies.
