Giacomo Caneva, artista e pioniere della fotografia
Abstract
Se la storiografia fotografica italiana deve a Silvio Negro l’individuazione di Giacomo Caneva (1813-1865) come «precursore della fotografia a Roma», seppure accompagnata da un giudizio ancora acerbo e poco lusinghiero, è senza dubbio a Piero Becchetti che risalgono le prime più approfondite ricerche sulla vita e la produzione fotografica dell’artista che, dalla natia Padova, dopo una formazione presso l’Accademia di belle arti di Venezia, giunse e si stabilì a Roma nel 1838.
