Abstract

The research studies three schools built in Venice, opened between 1908 and 1910. It is a time of significant evolution in the national educational policies, also at a fiscal level, as town authorities were granted loans at a special interest rate to build schools. One of the main characters of this season, in Venice, is the engineer Daniele Donghi (Milan, 1861-Padua, 1938), head of the Municipal Technical Department between 1904‑13. Donghi introduces relevant technical innovations, thanks to his relevant professional experience (as head of technical department of the cities of Turin and Padua, as a director of the Porcheddu firm, that held the concession of the Hennebique patent for reinforced concrete).
