abstract

Through performative act the artist’s body encounters many typologies of boundaries: the esthetic one, crossed in several moments in Art History, e.g. by the artists involved in Wiener Aktionismus; the politic one, exemplarily undermined by Marina Abramović Rhythm 0; the biological one, analyzed both by Stelarc in his posthuman experiments and by Regina José Galindo in performances such as Exalatión. This essay aims to give answers to the following questions: how do these encounters take place? What do they bring with them? Which is their very purpose?
