Abstract

In this paper we analyse the polytheistic inscriptions documented in the province of Hispania Citerior. Although they are a small group, only eight inscribed objects are preserved, they provide valuable information about different kinds of deities (numina, genii, lares, divinized abstractions, gods and generic goddesses). Furthermore, most of the devotees pursued long administrative and military careers, which allow us to analyse the political dimension of these cults and their role in the consolidation of the Severan dynasty.
