Edited book | Behind the Image, Beyond the Image
Chapter | L’immagine del progetto di allestimento nell’Italia degli anni Cinquanta e Sessanta
Abstract
Exhibiting is a physical outcome. The relation between artworks, visitors and display is represented by many media – not only by photographs – that enhance our historical knowledge of Italian Design. Recent research suggests that drawing plays a fundamental role in architect learning practice, particularly referring to the draftsmanship and the significance of pen and pencil sketching. Drawing by hand is an important tool capable of stimulating and training visual thinking. Though it retains personal connections to the drawer’s skills, it represents the concrete translation of the designer’s thought. The purpose of the paper is to present the exhibition design image of Italian shows between the 1950s and the 1960s through the originator’s conceptual sketch.
