Chapter | La comunicazione interculturale tra italiani e russi
Abstract
n the first chapter the epistemological principles that characterize the research done for this work are explained as a whole. Aspects of these principles developed in a more specific and detailed manner successively. References are related to Balboni’s intercultural communicative model, later supplemented by an additional volume, containing a revised and expanded model by Balboni and Caon. Attention was mainly focused on the difficulties related to the development of intercultural communicative competence, subsequently referred to as four macro-areas: verbal codes, non-verbal codes, cultural values and communicative events. The aim of Chapter 1 is also to strengthen the above-mentioned aspects through strategies that monitor relational abilities, the contribution of which is fundamental in order to achieve effective intercultural communication. This is done by avoiding misunderstandings, conditioning and obscuring communicative conversations, which may alter interactions among people with a different ‘cultural grammar’. Finally, statistical aspects, research methods and a cross-section and survey process, in which data and information were collected and became part of the present work, are all discussed.
