Le immagini atletiche in Plutarco in contesti politici e militari
Abstract
The article examines the use of images and athletic metaphors in political and military contexts within Plutarch’s Lives and Moralia. The aim of this use to highlight the similarities and differences between politics, war and athletics, as well as to characterize the politician or the general. In the metaphorical images examined there are two formal proceedings, the frequent use of explicit comparisons with the athlete (introduced by ὥσπερ) and the metaphorical use of the agonistic lexicon.
