Abstract

In recent years, the role of animals in society is significantly changing. Such a change is reflected in the legal order that it is trying to gradually adapt to the new needs. The present work aims at investigating the impact of this process on the different branches of civil law. Specifically, we firstly examined the possibility for animals of being an object of a foreclosure order, the limits to the possibility of living with them, the topic of the animals in the context of a family crisis, the controversial issue of claims for compensation based on the death of a pet, the protection of animals under inheritance law. Now, classifying animals as things is an understatement. In fact, animals are sentient beings, with rights that even the owner must respect.
