Esperienze di protezione del retro dei dipinti nella città di Venezia

Abstract

The backing of the paintings consists in the application of a suitable membrane (flexible or rigid) on the back of the artworks with the aim of reducing the interaction of the verso with the environment and the thermo-hygrometric variations, reducing degradation causes. Two treatments and instrumental checks are described: the first was the maintenance of the paintings on canvas on the Venetian church of Santi Apostoli after the 2019 flood (sponsored by Save Venice Inc.); the other was the conservation treatment of the panels by Zanino di Pietro of the Basilica of Torcello iconostasis, in 2022 (sponsored by Venice in Peril and Save Venice Inc.).
