Orlando Marcellus Fernald (1840-1902), classical scholar and secondary school teacher. Fernalde taught Greek and Latin in the United States and was primarily engaged in classical instruction at the secondary and collegiate level. He is chiefly remembered for his work as an editor of Greek texts for scholastical use.

Greek text of selected passages from Thucydides, Herodotus, Xenophon, and Diodorus, with notes. The selection is based upon Felton 1852. Fernald printed and annotated the Greek text of Thuc. 1.2-17 (Archaeology), 88-117 (The Pentekontaetia), 118-125 (Second Congress at Sparta), 139-146 (Pericles' First Speech); 2.13 (Resourses of Athens), 34-47 (Pericles' Funeral Oration), 59-65 (Pericles' Third Speech and Eulogy); 6.27-29, 60-61 (Mutilation of the Hermai); 7.75-87 (Athens' Defeat in Sicily), 8.1-4 (Effects of the Disaster in Sicily).
