Besides Thucydides, Felton collected texts from Diodorus, Herodotus, Xenophon, Arrian, Polybius, and Pausanias. At the time of his death, Felton had left unfinished the commentary intended to accompany the selection. His project was subsequently taken up by Orlando Marcellus Fernald, who in 1878 published a commentary on an abridged version of Felton's selection – see Fernald 1878.
