Georg Achatz von Enenkel (1573-1620), scholar, jurist, and nobleman from the Protestant Enenkel family of Albrechtsberg an der Pielach in Lower Austria. Enenkel studied classical languages and philosophy in Strasbourg and law at the University of Tübingen. He is best known for his Latin translation of Thucydides, and he also authored several legal works. As a committed Protestant, he was among the signatories of the Horner Bund (1608), a political alliance formed by Austrian Protestant estates to defend their religious and political rights amid growing tensions with Habsburg Catholic rule. Enenkel was also married to Anna Freiin von Althann, daughter of the imperial court chamber president Christoph von Althann and Elisabeth von Teufel. DB
