The book was edited by Melchior Junius (1545-1604), humanist, rhetorician, and academic administrator associated with the Gymnasium Illustre in Strasbourg. A student of the Gymnasium Illustre in Strasbourg and protégé of Johann Sturm, Junius became Professor of Rhetoric and, from 1581, permanent rector of the institution. His scholarly work contributed to the evolution of rhetorical education by blending Ciceronian principles with Aristotelian political themes and historical analysis. DB
